How it works

How it works for individuals

If you wish to Capture Carbon, just follow these easy steps:

1.Select which farmer you wish to capture carbon on your behalf (1Kg CO2 = 1€).

2. Select your movement, Artvironmental (available) or Gamevironmental (soon)

3.Pick the artwork based on the value of CO2 you wish to remove.

4.You are now the proud owner of a carbon art, c-Art, which you can download via the e-mail you will receive from us along with a summary of the farmer you selected.

5.Farmers receive 80% of net proceeds, so s/he can continue sustainable farming practices and sequester more carbon for a healthier planet.  The other 20% goes to the rest of contributors: artists, lawyers, accountants, IT, banks, R&D, our team and of course, the taxman.  GarbiGlobe is not a charity.

There are two components in our c-Art: carbon + art

  • The carbon attached to each image refers to the carbon sequestered in 1 year which you contribute to capture and put to rest, that's why we call it fallow carbon
  • The image stays with you for your own use (not commercial use)

GarbiGlobe is working to bring a secondary market for the c-Art where you will be able to sell or exchange it.  But please give us a little bit of time, this is our first baby step.

Why?

Because carbon credit exchanges were created following the "polluter pays" principle. But pays what? Polluters can easily avoid paying a fair price.  Existing carbon markets apparently have an inherent conflict of interest. GarbiGlobe believes that those who suffer the negative consequences from the polluters' actions should have a say in how much they should pay.

Current carbon credit prices are trading well below the real cost of sequestering a ton of carbon, whether this is through nature based solutions, i.e. regenerative farming, or with new technologies.

GarbiGlobe wants to remedy that, empowering the general public to make a powerful impact that will accelerate the transition towards less polluting production methods while rewarding those in the front line against climate change by increasing the price per ton of carbon.

Why Farmers

  • Because we value "how" things are produced not only "what" we get.
  • Because industrial farming methods use chemical pesticides and chemical fertilisers which destroy biodiversity, pollute soil and underground aquifers and diminish natural soil fertility over time.
  • Because intensive farming increases the risk of diseases and it is a constant breach of animal welfare.
  • Because regenerative farming methods supports biodiversity, regenerates the soil, leverages a symbiotic relation between animals and crops and helps sequester carbon and reduce emission, making it a powerful tool to combat climate change.
  • Because extensive farming works with nature and not against it.
  • Because small and medium size farmers can participate by lowering the barriers to accessing the carbon markets.
  • Because supporting regenerative farmers decreases their risk and has a cascade impact on the farm, their families and their communities.
  • Because GarbiGlobe rewards good practices in farming offering an equitable source of income to those who feed us and nurture the environment.

Why Individuals

  • Because GarbiGlobe believes those who suffer the negative consequences caused by polluters should have a say on what a safe, sustainable and green world is worth.
  • Because we all want to breath clean air, drink clean water, eat good food and save the planet.
  • Because GarbiGlobe is democratising the carbon credit market, opening the market beyond its current B2B model.
  • Because GarbiGlobe aims to reward those who make a positive difference and make polluters pay more.
  • Because GarbiGlobe allows the general public to take action in a positive manner to create an impact.
  • Because GarbiGlobe is fun and engaging tool to achieve what we want.

Why Artists

  • Because for centuries, artist have shown us that art can be more than just pleasing, it can offer a gentler way to protest, express an opinion or present a serious issue.
  • Because artists want to contribute in the fight against climate change and loss of biodiversity.
  • Because artists want to support regenerative farmers.
  • Because artists want to add some fun
  • Because GarbiGlobe's Artvironment is a movement.

Why Markets

  • Because carbon credit markets were conceived in the 1990's in an attempt to mitigate the increase of greenhouse gases. Their goal is to allow market mechanisms to drive industrial and commercial processes in the direction of low emissions or less carbon intensive approaches.
  • Because the "polluter pays" approach is fair, in principle, but who determines how much the polluter pays?
  • Because GarbiGlobe believes that those who suffer the negative consequences of the polluters' actions (or as economists put it "the negative externalities"), should have a say deciding how much polluters should pay.
  • Because the current obligatory and voluntary carbon credit market pricing is not set in a free market, as it does not give easy access to the general public to participate.
  • Because the current low carbon credit prices do not reflect the real cost of remediating pollution and the loss of biodiversity.
  • Because existing carbon credit markets and platforms appear to believe the price of the carbon credit is set.
  • GarbiGlobe, unlike others in the carbon credit markets, only offers annual carbon credits as forecasting floods, droughts. fires and storms is becoming more difficult with climate change.
  • GarbiGlobe makes NO claims of carbon neutrality, "offsetting" or "compensating". NO more double accounting. GarbiGlobe contributes towards the fight against climate change and the loss of biodiversity by supporting those on the frontline! Minimising carbon emissions in its own processes wherever it can.

Why Polluters

  • Because the "polluter pays" principle is commonly accepted as fair practice.
  • Because, we believe pollution should be priced the same everywhere, whether it takes place in one country or another irrespective of level of development.
  • Because GarbiGlobe offers those managers who wish to accelerate the transition to less polluting practices a tool to quantify the real cost of not applying good ESG practice.
  • Because your company wants to show it does not believe in Greenwashing!

Why Planet Earth

  • Because it's worth it.
  • Because we love it.
  • Because we live on it.
  • Because this planet is ours!

What is a Carbon Credit?

To understand the carbon credit concept, it's important to remember that every green plot of land, forest or farm has

a natural capacity to absorb from the atmosphere the carbon produced by human activities.

In the case of agricultural activities, the better the agricultural practices, such as stop using chemical pesticides, chemical fertilisers, stop deep tilling, the use of mixed crops, extensive farming, efficient water management, among others, the better for the environment.  Those practices allow to regenerate the nutrients of the soil (that's why its name, regenerative agriculture), increase biodiversity and increase the natural capacity to sequester more carbon (CO2).  Other practices such as the use of solar panels or more fuel efficient machinery contribute to avoid emitting more carbon that otherwise will enter in the atmosphere.

This carbon, sequestered or not emitted, is then measured by certifying offices and quantified in the form of credits (1 credit = 1 ton CO2) which, once audited, become real assets that farmers can put in the market.

The existing B2B obligatory and voluntary carbon markets price those carbon credits well below the real cost of damage remediation and therefore it does not incentivise polluters to accelerate the transition towards less polluting production methods.
